“Who Shall Survive?” A Fundamental Question of Psychodrama

This workshop is being held on a non-profit basis. Its budget is supported by donations raised by the “Ukraine Psychodrama Fundraiser” event held on October 17, 2026, in Northampton, England.

In 1934, in the period between the two World Wars, J.L. Moreno—the founder of psychodrama and sociometry—posed his unique psychodramatic question to humanity: “Who shall survive?”

Instead of continuing the struggle for survival through endless competition and conflict with one another, Moreno proposed a different path. He believed that the power of human relationships—between individuals, communities, and within international society—when infused with spontaneity and creativity, could help people survive through the healthy quality of their connections and social networks.

In Ukraine, where years of resistance against aggression continue, shifting from one tragedy to another, Moreno’s question and his answers—embodied in psychodrama and sociometry—are relevant today. During this workshop, we will explore our connections with one another at both individual and collective levels, while seeking to unlock spontaneity as a key resource for overcoming old patterns of conflict and competition across all levels of society.
